Please join the police department in special recognition of Investigator Austin Powell and Officer Tylor Gann for their hard work, perseverance, and dedication to the citizens of Clinton! Through their investigative efforts and cooperation with assisting agencies, two vehicles from two separate incidents were recovered. The facts and details are as follows:
The first incident was reported on 09/05/2024 when Officer Gann was dispatched to 710 Crestwood Drive for the report of two stolen motorcycles, a 2003 Suzuki and2024 Aprilia. Upon further investigation and help from citizens providing additional information, on 09/24/2024 Officer Gann and members of the Anderson County Sheriffs Department went to 246 Joe Owens road and were able to locate and recover the 2003 Suzuki motorcycle. Officer Gann charged and arrested Nicky Boggs with Possession of Stolen Property and Vandalism. 09/24/2024 Investigator Powell was able to obtain more information leading to a location where the 2024 Aprilia motorcycle was believed to be. Investigator Powell obtained a search warrant that he and members of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department executed at 4131 Andersonville Highway. Officers were able to secure evidence through the warrant and will be filing charges on a second subject who is believed to be in possession of the Aprilia motorcycle. On 10/03/2024, the Aprilia motorcycle was recovered in Knox County after being involved in an accident, and the driver fled on foot.
The second incident was reported on 09/23/2024 when Officer Gann was dispatched to Fox Toyota of Clinton for a report of a stolen vehicle. Officer Gann was advised that 2023 Lexus LX 600 had been stolen through fraudulent transactions. Officer Gann and Investigator Powell were able to activate the vehicles on board GPS and track the vehicle. The vehicle was tracked to St. Paul, Minnesota, and La Crosse, Wisconsin, and was finally located in Chicago, Illinois, in a cargo box at the train station. The vehicle was recovered along with other stolen vehicles and parts. The Clinton Police Department was assisted by the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Police, the Cicero Police Department, the St. Paul Police Department, the Chicago Police Department, and the Illinois Statewide Auto Theft Taskforce.

In a hurry? Slow down. It’s risky and dangerous to ignore safety signs posted at a railroad crossing. 🚆

The only safe and legal place for anyone to cross railroad tracks is at designated crossings. Always obey warning signs and signals, and look for a train before proceeding – they are quieter and move faster than you think. 🚆

It might be tempting to move your child into a forward-facing car seat early, but experts say keeping your child in a rear-facing seat for as long as possible, up to the limits of the car seat, is the best way to keep your child safe and prevent a traumatic injury in the event of a crash. #TNCPSWeek
